Associate Professor Vincent Ho has carried out the first diagnostic full thickness gastric biopsy case in Australia for a patient with gastroparesis using the OVESCO FTRD device. This was successfully performed at Campbelltown Private Hospital in a young patient suffering from gastroparesis. The case will be presented at Australian Gastroenterology Week this year with the abstract titled “Endoscopic full-thickness muscle biopsy using an endoscopic full thickness resection device – A minimally invasive approach for optimal gastric tissue acquisition in patients with gastroparesis”.

Associate Professor Vincent Ho believes that an endoscopic approach to obtaining full thickness gastric biopsies may be transformative in providing new insights into the pathophysiology of gastroparesis at the cellular and molecular level.
