How TachoSil® Works*

TachoSil is a collagen sponge coated on one side with human fibrinogen and human thrombin.

When applied to a bleeding surface:

1. The active proteins come into contact with blood or physiological fluids
2. Thrombin converts fibrinogen into fibrin
3. A fibrin clot forms, adhering the sponge securely to the tissue
4. The matrix supports haemostasis and tissue sealing at the application site

The active side of the matrix is identifiable by its yellow colour and should be applied directly to the wound surface.
